Lottery Sales Representatives (LSR) are responsible for wide variety of sales functions associated with increasing sales of the existing lottery locations, training and developing new lottery accounts, providing temporary coverage for sales territories etc. LSR understands all aspects of lottery operation at retail. To achieve objectives set in the business plan, Hoosier Lottery relies on LSR’s to be flexible and nimble, ready to accept changing priorities and assignments, staying focused on top revenue generating initiatives. LSR works with sales and marketing teams for the achievement of revenue generation, short and long-term goals in line with company vision and values.  This position will support retailers in Hendricks County and Western Marion County to include cities of Plainfield and Avon, Indiana; therefore, candidates should reside in/near territory.



Lottery Sales Representatives works in a minimum of 3 sales roles defined below.

Training: train and develop new lottery retailers for a period of 6 weeks since equipment installation. The training includes lottery equipment training, products (instant and draw games), account management (accounting, inventory management etc.), and sales drivers. Work with each store to achieve specific sales targets established for a location based on its trade style and geographic location after 13 weeks of sales.

Account Management: provide support coverage to the existing Hoosier Lottery territories as needed. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with lottery personnel and lottery retailers.

Merchandising: deliver, sell-in and install lottery permanent retail displays (instant ticket displays, how to play boards, merchandiser units for both on the counter and self-service, winner awareness wallpaper, posters, banners etc.). Gather information on retailers’ and players’ reactions to products and provides feedback to sales mgmt. Provides ideas and suggestions for new promotional and permanent merchandising elements.

Sales Optimization Projects:
Implements field knowledge, review sales and marketing analysis of existing Lottery retailer base by region by game by trade style to identify opportunities for growth.

Work with all Lottery Regional Managers, Lottery Regional Coordinators and Lottery Sales Representatives on driving same store sales initiatives.

Prepare a work plan for approaching various classes of retailers and develop specific tactics designed to help them achieve their potential.

Work with the sales team to increase sales by driving players into shops, effective player-friendly, up-to-date displays, winner awareness information and creative promotions and advertising.

Work with Corporate Account Team to design and execute sales optimization initiatives in corporate retailers.

Deliver lottery equipment when necessary.

Assists with other projects as assigned.


Bachelor’s Degree in business, sales/marketing or related field and/or equivalent years of education and successful work experience in related commercial sales, business recruitment, account acquisition.

3 –5 years of related retail sales, consumer package goods and relevant marketing experience.

  • Must be able to speak clearly and persuasively with strong interpersonal skills
  • Expresses self well in group or in one-to-one conversations
  • Must be able to produce written materials that are clear, concise and easily understood
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Must be able to synthesize, frame and position sales and marketing concepts in a compelling, persuasive manner in order to effectively convey product benefits, key selling features and differentiation.
  • General understanding of lottery transactions and how the lottery operates

Physical (% time: travel, operating machinery, environmental etc.)

  • Required to work flexible hours, potential weekend activities as needed.
  • Travel within the State of Indiana supporting a territory 100% of time worked.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have a driver’s license with minimal infractions and able to understand vehicle reporting requirements.
